Lucas Cranach the Elder

Lucas Cranach the Elder (1472 Kronach – 1553 Weimar) lived in Wittenberg from 1505 until 1550, where he maintained an important workshop. Martin Luther, the reformer, was one of Cranach’s friends who lived at the same time as painters such as Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein the Younger and Albrecht Altdorfer.
